Beyond the Reels: Balancing the familiar and the new with Wazdan

Wazdan’s 16 Coins x5000 was the focus of the latest episode of Beyond the Reels, as Natalia Katolik, the studio’s Account Manager, explained how the latest iteration of the ever-present series remains fresh for players.

“The key lies in balancing the familiar with the new,” she explained. “The coins format is already proven. So with each sequel, we keep its core intact while enhancing it with new mechanics, bigger jackpots or features that reflect current player preferences.  This ensures the series remains recognisable, yet always fresh.”

In particular, Katolik noted the presence of the cash out feature, which can apply a label to a random reel and collect the value of the symbols that land in that position for up to 20 spins.

She emphasised that this provides the player with more frequent rewards during the base game, and they can enjoy every spin without waiting for the bonus rounds.

Alongside cash out, 16 Coins x5000 also features Wazdan’s cash infinity, chance level and hold the jackpot mechanics.

“These mechanics were designed to complement one another,” revealed Katolik.

“Cash infinity builds anticipation by locking itself on the wheels. Cash out develops bonus rewards during the base game and hold the jackpot [delivers] the climactic moment players anticipate. Together they create a rhythm of tension, rewards and the thrill that keeps the whole game exciting and satisfying.”

Alongside these, the title also contains a buy bonus feature that is becoming increasingly common within slot releases.

According to Katolik, this trend stems from the evolution of player preferences and desire for “instant access” to a game’s bonus round.

“Many players want the option to bypass the base game and jump straight into the heart of the action,” she concluded.

“By offering such a choice, we allow them to experience the most thrilling moments on their own terms, making the game more adaptable to different players’ expectations and styles of play.”
