A significant spotlight has been placed on the Brazilian gambling landscape for quite some time, as many across the industry shuffled operations in an attempt to secure the optimum platform from which to build.

However, alongside a legalised marketplace being ushered in comes the necessity for players to be correctly educated. Step forward Cacaniqueisonline, which is striving to achieve exactly that.

In a latest SBC Media three-part special, Chief Operation Officer Christian Lowe sets the stage for what we can expect, player preferences that have been observed and just who the major players within the country’s online casino space could be.

To begin, the curtain is pulled back on the site’s standing within the region’s gaming community, and what it is hoped will be achieved moving forward.

“Looking at different countries, slot machine preferences usually come from historical physical slot machines, Brazil has no real culture around slot machines and what people usually play in bars and casino venues has been video bingo,” Lowe says.

“…more classic online slot machines are gaining traction and popularity”

“Online video bingo slot machines are still widely popular, but more classic online slot machines are gaining traction and popularity. We hope to educate the player about the existence of online slot machines and help users find ones that they particularly like.”

Upon casting glances at the global gaming landscape, one consistent remains. This primarily concerns the potentially vast differences in user preferences across geographies.

When it comes to specific themes of slots, Lowe continues by touching on what he has observed that has particularly resonated with Brazilian players.

“Video bingo is still most popular in Brazil and the top name is a video bingo Showall,” he comments. “If you would apply stereotypes, you would think that the most popular themes on slot machines would be carnival, soccer and rainforest themes.

“This is true but the most popular slot machines are oriental themed. The Fortune series from the mobile first slot machine provider PG Soft are very popular, and these contain elements and inspiration from Asian culture.”

Despite the time of regulation to the present day comprising a very short timeframe, the conversation continues by elaborating on whether these preferences have remained consistent or if there’s been any significant transitions.

“I would say that we have seen a higher demand for slot machines with an ability to win higher amounts”

“I would say that we have seen a higher demand for slot machines with an ability to win higher amounts on and more innovative mechanics and overall, a more immersive experience,” he states.

“This has been driven by Twitch and Youtube streamers who generally showcase the latest slot machines which are trending more towards these kinds of mechanics.”

As previously alluded to, Cacaniqueisonline has witnessed one particular slots supplier make waves across the Brazilian iGaming scene.

Lowe aligns PG Soft’s uptake by the country’s slot playing population to a strategic focus of mobile-first development practices, which hold a particular appeal to the large swathe of individuals that prioritise play via a smartphone device.

“This has helped PG Soft establish a dominant position in the market,” he explains. “Modern slot machines are built for smartphones, and you can get an amazing casino experience with a simple smartphone. With the high mobile penetration and 4G/5G in Brazil, the recipe for growth of the market was always there.

“I think the reason why PG Soft themes are so popular is because they contain a perfect balance of symbols that represent luck and prosperity. Brazilians like many cultures have a strong belief in lucky symbols.

“I think there is room for providers providing extreme volatility slots to take market share”

“Mahjong and tile-based slots are also very popular, also an Asian culture aesthetic that has proven popular in Brazil. Cute Animals and Mascots themed slots are very popular as showcased in some of the PG Soft slot machines.”

The hopes of achieving significant success across such a large nation are far and wide across the wider industry, with an array of online slot developers firmly of the belief that Brazil will deliver on the promise shown.

Lowe cites that Pragmatic Play has joined PG Soft as “the dominant players of the market”, however, they cannot rest on their laurels as the chasing pack are eager to take their place.

“I think there is room for providers providing extreme volatility slots to take market share. Two of these are Hacksaw Gaming and Nolimit City,” he concludes.

“I expect Relax Gaming, who provides huge jackpot slot machines, to grow steadily during 2025. A safe bet is to say that Evolution will continue to grow their live casino in the Brazilian market.”
