In the latest episode of Beyond the Reels, SlotBeats delves into the most recent addition to Wazdan’s Hold the Jackpot series with Power of Gods: Hades.
Joining James Ross, senior reporter for CasinoBeats and SlotBeats, as he explores the Greek underworld is Katarzyna Olewinska, account manager at Wazdan, who revealed that Greek mythology was always on the cards when the Power of Gods series was conceived.
“When we decided to create our Power of Gods series, we knew that one of our games would be set in the underworld because people have always been fascinated with life after death,” Olewinska noted.
Looking more closely at the symbols and imagery within the title, Ross emphasised the lack of gore within the slot, something which would be symbiotic with Hades and the underworld, pressed on the initial design thought, Wazdan’s account manager explained: “We always delve into the topic when working on a new game, this time we studied Greek mythology.
“Ancient Greeks didn’t perceive Hades as an evil god, he was the ruler of the underworld and was depicted as cold and stern, but righteous that’s why our Hades is a mighty deity helping players win up to 5000x their bet.”
“All symbols were inspired by Greek mythology, including Cerberus, the three-headed guard dog of the underworld, Charon, the ferryman of Hades who carries souls across the river Styx, a key to the gates of the underworld, a helm of invisibility, a bidet, as well as fiery Bonus symbols – sizzling yellow fire and even hotter blue fire
“What is more, we also pay a lot of attention to sound effects in a game, to create a truly immersive gaming experience. A game is complete only if all of its elements are of the highest quality, including an interesting theme, stunning graphics and animations, innovative features and mesmerising soundtrack.”
Moving on in the video, Ross located a button within the game which displayed three chillies, peaking his curiosity, he questioned Olewinska on this where she revealed it was the company’s trademarked Volatility Levels mechanic.
She explained: “Our unique and trademarked feature – Volatility Levels – allows players to modify their win size and frequency on the fly with just one click, players can adjust the game to their preferences.
“High volatility, three chillies, brings more big wins, but they happen less often. This level makes the game super hot, as it is extremely high and only the bravest souls will decide to switch it on for a chance of massie wins.
“With Standard volatility, two chillies, both win size and frequency are more balanced. When choosing Low volatility, one chilli wins appear more frequently, but their value is usually lower.
“Adjustable Volatility Levels is a unique feature that can only be found in Wazdan games. With our Volatility Levels players are in complete control.”
The episode also explored how Wazdan spiced up its Gamble feature, a deeper look into its Hold the Jackpot mechanic and how it was utilised in Hades, and what the future holds for the series along with any new mechanics and slot titles on the horizon.
