As the links between video games and online casino continue to be taken to new levels, the Game Play series discovers how key characters within the gambling industry embarked on their gaming journey.

In this week’s Game Play feature, Slots Temple Marketing Director Suzanne Jiggens-Johnson highlights an “old time favourite” that has “stood the test of time”, explains how Candy Crush provided perfect procrastination and questions whether she has ever actually completed a game.

Are you a PC or console gamer? What was your first home gaming experience?

I’m firmly in the camp of console gaming. There’s something about the feel of a controller in my hands that is just so much more intuitive than trying to master the WASD keys, despite many attempts. I was late to gaming and my first full experience was my Nintendo DS – in coral pink! I was completely obsessed with The Legend of Zelda.

What is your favourite game of all time and why?

My favourite game depends on the situation and who I’m playing with. If I’m playing with my children, then nothing really beats Mario Kart for instilling a bit of fun family rivalry that brings out the competitive spirit in all of us. Once the kids are in bed though, Halo is still an old time favourite, which has stood the test of time for letting off a bit of steam.

What mobile game have you spent the most time playing

It’s safe to say that Candy Crush consumed a fair bit of my time when it was first released – admittedly, it took up much more time than it should have done! I’m pretty sure there were times when I could have been spending my time doing something productive, and instead I was swiping candies and jellies! It was a very enjoyable game though, so at least I had fun.

Which mobile game are you currently playing?

Nowadays, my guilty pleasure is playing Township on my mobile, again probably more than I should do! These easier to pick up and put down style games are a great way of relaxing me at the end of a busy day.

Last video game completed?

I’m not sure I’ve ever actually fully completed a video game…Whether it’s the restrictions on how much time I have spare to play them, or getting bored before I get to the end, I’ve never managed to get to the end of a game.

Favourite video game character?

There’s only one answer to this question: Princess Peach – she’s beautiful, powerful, elegant and kick-ass. She also has the best outfits. What more could you want?!

Favourite all time slot?

I enjoy playing the Slingo games. Maybe it’s because they take me back to when I used to go to bingo at university, but I love the way the game mechanic keeps you engaged right through. And because there are so many different options, you can mix it up by playing different versions!
