Streamia.io – Alexander Björkén: Diablo II is timeless

Alexander Björkén, Product Manager at Streamia.io, spoke to SlotBeats for the latest edition of Game Play, as he revealed the timeless joy brought by Diablo II and why he jumped straight into Elden Ring upon its release.

Are you a PC or console gamer? What was your first home gaming experience?

I am definitely more of a PC gamer than a console gamer. I grew up surrounded by computers and had my very first PC at a young age, mainly because my dad was really into technology and made sure we always had something to tinker with at home. While friends might have had early consoles like the NES or PlayStation, my first real gaming experiences were definitely in exploring PC titles.

What is your favourite game of all time and why?

It’s always difficult to pick just one favourite, but if I had to choose, Diablo II would be at the very top of my list. It was one of the first games I ever played online back in the early 2000s, and the memories of those sessions are still clear today. Even now, all these years later, I still return to it occasionally, which really says something about how timeless the game is.

What mobile game have you spent the most time playing

That’s a bit tricky because I’ve never been massively into mobile games compared to PC or console titles. Still, if I’m being honest, the game I probably spent the most time on is Candy Crush. Looking back, I think I invested way more time into it than I would like to admit.

Which mobile game are you currently playing?

These days, I don’t play mobile games nearly as often as I used to, but I do still log into OldSchool RuneScape regularly, which has a great mobile version. I wouldn’t say I “main” the mobile experience since PC is still my go-to, but whenever I can’t sit at my desk or actively click away, I use the mobile app to keep up with progress. It’s perfect for more AFK skills or casual grinding, and it keeps me connected to the game even when I’m not at home.

Last video game completed?

The last game I fully completed was Elden Ring, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. I had already played through the Dark Souls series, which made me appreciate the challenging gameplay style. When Elden Ring was released, I jumped straight in, and I pretty much binged the whole thing.

Favourite video game character?

Having spent countless hours playing the Warcraft series and World of Warcraft, I’ve always been drawn to the game’s rich lore and unforgettable characters. If I had to pick just one, Arthas as the Lich King stands out as my favourite because of his complex, tragic story and how central he is to the game’s universe. That said, a very close second for me would be Ysera, absolute peak character development during the Shadowlands expansion (if you know you know).

Favourite all-time slot?

I like it when slots set trends and bring out something unique that hasn’t been seen before. Some that stand out to me are White Rabbit and the Money Train series. Both unique games at the time of their release, but if I had to choose my all-time favourite, it would be Money Train. The mechanics, theme, and the excitement it brings have kept me coming back more than any other slot. It’s easily the one I’d put above the rest.
