Play’n GO has put its fiery spin on the studio’s classic Buffalo-theme slot with the launch of Beasts of Fire.

Out now

Beasts of Fire is a 4×3-4, 12,348-payline video slot that comes with a maximum win potential of up to x25,000 the bet.

84.27 – 96.24 per cent

The buffalo symbols are high-pays and always appear surrounded by a red hue, which is exaggerated to represent fire as the beast takes on more of a ‘burnt’ form during the free spins round.

Other than buffaloes, other animals appear on the grid, including bears, cougars, bald eagles and racoons. These are the mid-pays and are worth x3 to x6 the stake for five of a kind.

Lastly, royals are represented by classic A-10 royals offering x1.2 to x2.5 the bet for five of a kind.

Moving onto special symbols, appearing on reels two, three and four is the landscape wild symbol, which substitutes all symbols except scatters or meteors.

The title features such as a buffalo stampede, meteor respins and burnin’ power free spins.

Starting with the buffalo stampede feature, during the base game, this may randomly trigger on any spin. When activated, the number of buffalo symbols on the reels is increased, thus increasing the hit rate and the chance of landing wins.

Meanwhile, landing a meteor respin symbol – which can only appear on reel three – triggers the respins feature. Here, the height of all reels increases by one, providing a greater chance of triggering a buffalo stampede.

During the respin, it is also possible to land another meteor symbol, awarding another respin and increasing the reel height again by one. The reel height can be increased up to three times. When it hits this height, meteors are removed from the reels. Once any wins are paid, the reels return to their normal height for the next game round.

Finally, landing three golden scatters on reels two, three or four awards 10 Burnin’ Power free spins. For this feature, the top-paying buffalo symbol is replaced by the fire beast symbol, worth double the amount.

Furthermore during free spins, when reels expand, they stay at their expanded size until the bonus ends. Should the player land three more scatters in the feature, they’ll be awarded an additional 10 spins. These are played using the default number of reels.

Play’n GO’s head of games, Charlotte Miliziano, commented: “We wanted to put our spin on a popular theme in the industry. We wanted to use otherworldly ways to add a new dimension to the Buffalos. In real-life these animals are fearsome, so what better way to add to their ferocity than adding a fiery element to their characters?

“The visuals work with Dynamic Payways to create pace within a game, just like the rush of a herd of buffalo hurtling towards you. This was what we wanted to replicate in Beast of Fire.
