Paf’s proprietary content provision has started to heat up as its latest sweltering slot release invites players to a Nordic spa in Sauna Vikings.
Sauna Vikings is a 6×5 reel slot with scatter-pays of six or more symbols, offering bonus features such as cascading wins and a sauna bonus game mode.

Low value symbols come in the form of playing card royals, with Jack through to Ace. These symbols can offer between x0.3 and x50 the player’s bet, depending on the number of identical symbols that land on a single spin.
Next up, log fires, logs and beer depict the medium value symbols, offering between x0.4 and x100 the player’s preferred wager.
Five Viking characters represent the high value symbols, with background colours of red, orange, purple, green and blue. If the right number of identical symbols land on one spin, these symbols can offer between x0.8 and x750 the player’s bet.
Throughout the game, winning symbols will disappear after providing their payout, making way for new symbols to drop into play. If this cascading win feature occurs five times on the same spin, the sauna bonus game mode will be activated.
If no wins occur when the cascading symbols drop into play, then log fire symbols can trigger a feature that causes any log symbols across the grid to be attracted to the fire symbols. This will then cause new symbols to appear where the log symbols were.
In the sauna bonus game mode, players are taken to a sauna where they must select from one of the five Vikings.
In each game round, one of the vikings will leave the sauna at random. If the player’s selected viking remains in the sauna, a prize worth x2 the player’s stake will be awarded and another game round will take place.
If the player selects a viking that ends up leaving in the next game round, they will receive x1 their stake before heading back to the base game.
WHAT THEY SAY
Rene Katsev, Producer at Paf Games Studio, commented: “In short, we wanted to make a game where the bonus game takes place in the Sauna. When we discussed in the team about what kind of characters we should have, then the Vikings were the strong favourite. That’s also how the game got its name – Sauna Vikings.”
Kim Syväluoma, Senior Game Programmer, explained: “The number of persons needed for a new game all depends on the scope and special features needed. A smaller update of a game can be done much faster.”
“We usually celebrate every new game, with a lunch or dinner and sometimes an event depending on what fits in. For now, we are already working on the next new thing,” added Mika Lampi, Senior Game Programmer at Paf.
