Amusnet has ramped up its North American presence following the developer gaining approval to supply Alberta’s newly opened iGaming market.

The developer has received a conditional licence from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). The decision follows a similar approval from Ontario’s gaming regulator granted earlier this year.

Julia Peeva-Sertov, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amusnet Gaming, described the decision as an important milestone for the company as it continues to increase its presence across North America.

“Following our successful licensing in Ontario, this achievement further strengthens our position in Canada and reflects our continued commitment to the highest standards of regulatory compliance and integrity, she added.

“We look forward to exploring opportunities in Alberta, building strong partnerships, and bringing our diverse portfolio to another regulated market.”

Following a number of years of build-up, Alberta’s iGaming market officially opened on 13 July and is overseen by the AGLC.

22 operators went live on the opening day, alongside the government-owned Play Alberta platform. However, more than 50 operators have registered with the AGLC and the Alberta iGaming Corporation.

Amusnet noted that the market requires iGaming suppliers to meet rigorous standards related to regulatory compliance, technology, security and responsible gaming.

Major operators including bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel and Caesars are all present in a bid to capitalise on a market that is estimated to generate CA$850m (£450.9m) annually, according to H2 Gambling Capital.
