Play’n GO has spoken out about the ban enforced by the Brazilian government on online betting and gaming in the country, noting that the ‘real risk’ is that players ‘drift away from licensed operators altogether’, impacting channelisation and player protection, as well as making it difficult for regulated markets to deliver on their objectives.
The iGaming provider added that sustainable growth and public trust are ‘fundamental to the long-term success of any regulated gambling market’.
Play’n GO’s statement said: “The situation in Brazil is a reminder that sustainable growth and public trust are not optional extras, they’re fundamental to the long-term success of any regulated gambling market. When regulators and policymakers lose confidence that gambling is being offered responsibly, the consequence is often more than tighter regulation.
“The real risk is that consumers drift away from licensed operators altogether, weakening channelisation, undermining player protection, and making it harder for regulated markets to deliver on the objectives they were created to achieve.”

Brazil Bets ban
Last Friday, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made the decision to bring an immediate end to the Bets Law. An executive measure was published, provisionally withdrawing all operators’ authority to operate online sports betting and gaming in Brazil with immediate effect.
For the ban to remain valid, congressional approval is now required within 120 days. Congress may still decide to reject, approve, or amend the executive measure.
Customers have until 11:59pm on 5 October to withdraw their balances, while licensed betting websites and apps are due to be taken offline on 6 October, two days after the first round of Brazil’s elections.
Operators have also spoken out against the ban, including Flutter Entertainment, Entain and Betano.
