Red Tiger’s remake of NetEnt’s classic Piggy Riches has been named the top slot in the UK market to date this year by SlotCatalog.
Named in its data report documenting the January-June timeframe, the data intelligence platform for slot titles throughout the igaming sector has reported its findings via its bi-annual slots popularity sector report called SlotCatalog Awards.
Commenting on the outcome, a SlotCatalog spokesperson said: “Generally speaking, Red Tiger has claimed a lot of the top 10 positions compared to 2019 were most top spots were NetEnt productions. Looking at the United Kingdom market it’s clear that the Playtech releases has done very well in the first half of 2020 as well.”
The report includes games that were released between January 1 and June 30, with the average SlotRank metric based on the games’ rank between day 30 and day 60 following the release date.
The January release of Piggy Riches Megaways scooped the top spot, ahead of Blueprint Gaming’s ‘7’s Deluxe’ based on Reel Time Gaming land-based slot machine Sevens.
In its report, SlotCatalog states: “Generally speaking, classics do very well in the UK and it’s not a surprise that Red Tiger’s excellent remake of the NetEnt classic Piggy Riches claims the first spot in the United Kingdom market. Blueprints 7’s Deluxe based on Reel Time Gaming land-based slot machine SEVENS, proves this point further.
“The bigger part of the remaining top positions is claimed by Playtech & Playtech Studios which also comes without surprise given their long time presence and strength in the United Kingdom market.
“NetEnt studios have no release in the top ten (if you exclude Red Tiger that is), which is a bit surprising to us given their distribution strength. But let’s be honest, there has not been a release of the same magnitude as Dead or Alive 2 from them this first half of 2020.”
The company scanned 796 UK casinos and selected 234 of the most popular casinos to be included in the data set. The firm says it looks at ‘the most qualitative, popular, and highly positioned casino game releases during the first half of 2020 by analysing 18,000 slot games, 385 game providers and over 1,800 online casinos across various geographical markets’.
Looking towards the outcome for the full year, a SlotCatalog spokesperson noted: “We expect to see one of the classics remade with the Megaways engine to grab number one for UK for the full year. Our prediction is either Gonzo’s Quest Megaways or Twin Spin Megaways.”
The rest of the top ten was made up by Age Of The Gods Glorious Griffin and Epic Troy by Playtech Origins, Ash Gaming’s Age of the Gods Norse King of Asgard, Aztec Bonanza by Pragmatic Play, Reel King Megaways by Inspired Gaming, Kingdoms Rise: Scorching Clouds by Sunfox Games, Rarestone Gaming’s Adventure Trail and Red Tiger’s Zeus Lightning Power Reels.
