Slotegrator’s Head of Design, Volga Butsko, explores how UX decisions shape trust, strengthen engagement, and provide an edge to operators in a competitive iGaming industry where design can influence players as much as games and payout speed.

With design playing a bigger role for online casinos and sportsbooks beyond the visual sense, Butsko says a well-crafted interface can influence a player in the very first few seconds, helping to guide them, set the tone and build familiarity that can result in engagement long-term.

Such development spanning over a decade has led to Slotegrator outlining three key principles that every one of its interfaces follows:

  • A player-centric approach, backed by prototype testing and continuous feedback.
  • Balancing innovation and industry tradition: keeping patterns players already trust while introducing modern visuals, microanimations and distinctive artistic styles.
  • Long-term value and consistency across devices, languages and cultural contexts.

Butsko commented: “Design is not just about visuals — it’s a way to strengthen player trust, enhance engagement, and support our partners’ business goals.”

In terms of trends that will shape iGaming’s future, Butsko believes it will be a mobile-oriented design that can capture a personalised experience for an industry where “over 70% of players access platforms from mobile devices”.

“Immersion through detail is a great way to capture players’ imaginations. Microanimations, smooth transitions, and responsive interactions create a sense of a fully imagined, living environment.

“Trust and transparency are becoming a big priority for players. A major UX trend in recent years is simplicity and honesty. Players appreciate when mechanics, bonus terms, and betting conditions are clearly explained. This reduces frustration and builds long-term loyalty.

“Players are also looking for an experience that’s bigger than each individual game round — basically, gamification beyond standard gameplay. Tiered loyalty programs, special achievements, and activity rewards all create a sense of continuity. These kinds of gamified systems add extra fun and motivation.

“Overall, I’d say the biggest takeaway is that UX in iGaming is shifting from ‘a convenient interface’ toward ‘a holistic entertainment experience,’ where every detail enhances immersion and retention.”
