Soft2Bet looks to embrace Alberta iGaming opportunity

Soft2Bet has thrown its hat in the ring to receive approval to work in Alberta’s upcoming iGaming market following its launch.

The group confirmed that it is monitoring updates on the development of the province’s regulatory framework – which will become Canada’s second regulated iGaming market after Ontario if launched as expected in 2026.

The group hopes to tap into the experience it has gained working in the Ontario market since 2024 with brands such as ToonieBet to provide Alberta’s players with an offering localised to their preferences.

David Yatom Hay, General Counsel at Soft2Bet, added: “As we evaluate our entry into Alberta, pending regulatory approval, we are committed to delivering localised, engaging experiences that reflect the unique preferences and culture of each market.

“Innovation is paramount at Soft2Bet, and our goal is to develop exciting products that meet our customers where they are most comfortable.”

Soft2Bet is buoyant on the potential of the market, given that Alberta is home to Canada’s youngest adult population and its highest GDP per capita. Estimates from  Citizens JMP Securities suggest that Alberta’s regulated iGaming market could exceed $700m (£525m) in annual revenue at maturity.

Alberta began the process to become Canada’s second regulated online gambling market in 2024, and lawmakers approved the iGaming Alberta Act in May 2025.

Once activated, the market will be overseen by the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) and regulated by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).
