Peter & Sons has showcased a horror show in outer space as scientists construct a hoard of space mutants in Mutaganes, our latest Slot of the Week pick.
Turning to the sci-fi genre for its new slot released via Yggdrasil, Peter & Sons’ Mutagenes title presents a 6×4 reel slot with 4,096 ways to win and a maximum win of up to x12,000 the player’s stake. The slot has high volatility with an RTP of 96.3%.

The game uses cascading wins, meaning that winning symbols will disappear after providing their payout prizes, making way for new symbols to drop in from the top of the reels.
Each time a cascade occurs, a win multiplier above the reels will increase by a value of one. This multiplier will enhance any subsequent wins that occur but resets in between spins.
Low value symbols come in the form of playing card suits, with clubs, diamonds, spades and hearts able to drop into play. These symbols can provide wins between x0.1 and x0.5 the player’s wager, depending on the number of paying combinations that land on a single spin.
Moving up the paytable, syringes, hands, potions and brains depict the medium value symbols, offering between x0.2 and x0.9 the player’s bet.
High value symbols are represented by purple and red mutant heads. If the right number of identical symbols land on a winning payline, these symbols can offer between x0.3 and x4 the player’s wager.
Additionally, an infection feature can occur randomly in both the base and free spins game modes. This causes random low value symbols to transform into high value mutant head symbols.
Switch scatters are also available, triggering the free spins feature when three or more land on the reels. Landing three, four, five or six scatters on the same spin will award seven, nine, 11 or 13 free spins, respectively.
For the free spins game mode, the win multiplier will not reset in between spins, therefore, the game mode cannot be retriggered as scatters do not appear in the free spins mode.

Two types of wild symbols can appear in this game, appearing on all reels other than the first. Standard ‘W’ wilds will drop into play to substitute for all symbols in the game other than switch scatters, while mutant wilds will expand across full reels to do so.
