SBC Summit North America is just around the corner, and a select few of this year’s attendees will get the chance to delve deep into the vital subject of player protection through an exclusive Player Protection Symposium that will be delivered by representatives from US operators, regulators, and athletes.
The limited-capacity event takes place on May 9 at the Altman Building in Chelsea, New York, before the main event kicks off on May 10 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey.
The conference is aimed at exploring the complex landscape and intricacies of player protection, providing attendees with valuable insights and tools to ensure the safety and well-being of their players while driving business growth.
Attendees will get the opportunity to gain crucial insights into managing player risk through cutting-edge technology at the ‘Managing player risk through technology’ workshop.
The panel, including Tammi Barlow (Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Rush Street Interactive), Bill Pascrell III (Partner, Princeton Public Affairs Group), Keith Whyte (ED, National Council on Problem Gambling), Nick Hill (Director of Business Development, nChain), and Adam Warrington (VP, Responsible Gaming, FanDuel) will explore isolated player risk and the evidence around problem gambling during the pandemic, share expert insights into the latest technologies to monitor player behaviour in real-time, and the solutions to address potential flaws.
The discussion will be moderated by Alan Feldman (Distinguished Fellow of Responsible Gaming and Executive Vice President of UNLV and MGM Resorts International).
Moderated by Paul Buck (CEO & Co-Founder, EPIC Risk Management), ‘The value of lived experience in preventing harm in sports’ will explore the benefits of lived experience education programs for protecting all stakeholders in the sports ecosystem.
Clint Hangebrauck (MD of Enterprise Risk Management, NCAA), Meg Popovic (Performance Advisor, Leaders in Sport & former Director of Player Welfare and Performance, Toronto Maple Leafs), Jamilah Ali (Assistant Athletic Director, Long Island University), and Ryan Tatusko (EPIC Risk Management lived experience facilitator and former MLB baseball player with Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals), will offer insights.
Elsewhere, ‘Maintaining a sustainable player base through an effective player protection strategy of detection and targeted early intervention’ will be moderated by Paula Murphy (BDM, Mindway AI).
This session will delve into the topic of responsible gambling and explore a comprehensive player protection strategy that not only aligns with ethical principles but also helps to retain players and manage resources more effectively.
Speakers, including Paul Foster (CEO, Crucial Compliance), Rachel Gundy (Head of Product, Betr), Shelley White (CEO, Responsible Gambling Council), and Marlene Warner (CEO, Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health), will share their insights and expertise on achieving a sustainable player base by identifying customers at risk of gambling-related harm and intervening early enough to help them regain control.
Finally, attendees will have the opportunity to join Martin Lycka (SVP of American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, Entain), and former professional football player from the New York Giants, Amani Toomer, for an in-person version of the ‘Safe Bet Show‘.
The session will delve into all aspects of safer gambling and its impact on gaming legislation across the world, bringing together two experts with unique perspectives on the subject.
