Low value symbols are represented by playing cards from nine through to Ace, with these symbols offering between x0.08 and x1.6 the player’s wager depending on the combinations that land on the reels.
The game’s medium value symbols are a tiger, gold, a sword, and a traditional Asian string instrument which, depending on the combinations that land, can offer between x0.4 and x3 the player’s bet.
Mystery of the Orient’s female protagonist is the high value symbol, which can offer x1 to x4 the player’s stake depending on the combinations that land on a single spin.
Wild, scatter, free spins and mystery symbols appear throughout the game as well. The mystery symbol comes in the form of a traditional Asian screen door, which can appear on all the reels in the base game and during free spins. When it lands on the reels, the mystery symbol opens to reveal either a scatter, wild, or free spins symbols.
Wild symbols come in the form of an Asian lucky coin and substitute for all symbols except for the free spins symbol, appearing on reels two, three and four. If a wild is revealed after opening a mystery symbol, it can have a random multiplier between x2 to x25 which is added to the winning combination they are a part of. The multipliers are added to each other if more than one lands on the same spin.
A scroll with scatter text represents the scatter symbol. If three, four or five scatter symbols appear on the reels, the game pays either x10, x40 or x8000 the player’s stake.

During the free spins round, two more symbols can appear on the reels or found by opening a mystery symbol – the reel size increase symbol and the additional free spins symbol.
Whenever a reel size increase symbol lands – which is a red arrow pointing up – it will increase the vertical size of a reel it has landed on by one position, up to a maximum of six positions, for the rest of the round.
Whenever an additional free spins symbol appears on the reels – which is a red envelope – a random number of additional free spins between one to five are awarded. Additional free spins can also be added if two to five free spins symbols land during the round.
