Yggdrasil ramps up South Africa presence with new deals

Yggdrasil Gaming has stepped up its reach in South Africa through new collaborations with SportyBet and Playco.za.

As a result of the deals, players of SportyBet and Playco.za will now have access to games such as MexoMax, Bob Marlin Goes Deep and Vikings Go to Olympus. In total, 100 titles from Yggdrasil will now be integrated into the two platforms.

Giovanni Fodera, Regional Manager at Yggdrasil, said: “South Africa is a strategically important market for Yggdrasil, and going live with established brands such as SportyBet and Playco.za is a significant achievement for the company.

“These partnerships enhance our regional presence, extend the reach of our content and reflect the strong momentum we are building across Africa.”

Yggdrasil is seeking to harness the strength of South Africa’s iGamings sector, as the firm highlighted data from the National Gaming Board, which found the market generated €75.5bn in turnover during the 2024/25 financial year.

Yggdrasil debuted in South Africa in 2021 through a partnership with Intelligent Gaming Limited (IGL), giving the developer access to IGL’s list of operator partners.

Outside of South Africa, Yggdrasil has also recently grown its iGaming presence with Admiral into Serbia, the game studio’s third European market agreement with the operator.

The deal will allow Admiral’s customers in the Serbian market to play Yggdrasil’s games, including its latest releases and a selection of YGG Masters programme titles.

“Admiral has become a key partner for Yggdrasil. Building on strong momentum in Croatia and Italy, expanding into Serbia was a natural next step. We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration and continuing to grow our presence across Admiral’s markets,” said Fodera at the time of the announcement.
