IGT taps ex-Aristocrat exec to lead land-based gaming division

IGT has confirmed the appointment of Aristocrat’s ex-Chief Marketing Officer Mark Wadley as the company’s new President of Land-based Gaming.

Wadley will be charged with overseeing IGT’s end-to-end land-based business, ranging from manufacturing to marketing and government relations.

IGT’s Chief Executive Officer, Hector Fernandez, described the new hire, who spent over four years at Aristocrat, as a ‘proven leader’.

“Mark has a deep understanding of how to connect product, customer insight and commercial execution to drive performance,” said Fernandez.

“As we continue to strengthen our Gaming business, bringing these capabilities together under one leader is a critical step in improving how we operate and deliver for our customers. Mark’s experience will help us accelerate that progress.”

Alongside his experience with Aristocrat, Wadley has spent the majority of his professional career working in the biotech industry with firms such as Axovant Sciences and Bluebird Bio.

Wadley emphasised that his focus will fall on executing a strategy of operating with stronger alignment and discipline to produce a greater performance for customers.

iGT confirms layoffs

Last month, IGT confirmed redundancies for 700 workers globally – representing approximately 10% of its workforce.

Employees were told in a letter that the layoffs were necessary to ‘align resources with business priorities and streamline operations, ensuring we are best-positioned for future growth’.

An IGT spokesperson told SlotBeats: “We are aligning resources and streamlining our operating model to focus on our highest growth opportunities and strategic priorities, impacting approximately 700 employees globally, 10% of our workforce.

“We thank these employees for their contributions and service to our organisation, and we are committed to supporting affected employees with severance, outplacement services, and, where possible, opportunities elsewhere within the company. This strategic realignment positions IGT to move forward with greater focus, agility and competitiveness.”
