Gaming Realms has launched its next Slingo release, rolling back the years with nostalgia-fuelled, arcade-inspired title Slingo Space Invaders.
After obtaining the appropriate licensing from Japanese game developer TAITO, Gaming Realms’ latest release will use imagery and branding from the classic 1978 arcade game in a release that introduces new bonus features to its flagship Slingo series.
Gareth Scott, Chief Commercial Officer at Gaming Realms, stated: “We are thrilled to be working with the TAITO corporation to deliver Slingo Space Invaders, a slot that adheres to many of the concepts people will expect from creating a title with such famous origins whilst delivering new mechanics through the Slingo feature.”
As with all Slingo titles, the game uses a 5×5 grid with mechanics that blend features from slots and bingo games. Players receive 12 spins to land as many numbers that match the numbers on their grid, aiming to form Slingo lines to climb a pay ladder.
Wilds and super wilds can also appear, allowing players to select one number from either a specific row or anywhere on the grid.
If players land enough Slingo lines, they can receive multiplied cash prizes of up to x50 or access to a bonus game mode. In this bonus game, players are given free spins while aliens rain down on the board. Landing cannons will allow players to destroy the aliens to receive cash prizes.
Scott continued: “Players will be climbing a pay ladder and increasing the win potential available within the bonus round whilst doing so, providing an escalation of excitement throughout the base game.
“In the bonus, we have utilised the popular gameplay of Space Invaders but reimagined how players will be battling the UFOs, aligning the retro entertainment experience with a new medium.”
