Spelinspektionen, the gaming authority for Sweden, has enlarged its igaming market after permitting further licensees to follow-up its preliminary permits earlier this month.

Through these licences, Hacksaw Gaming, Relax Gaming, EveryMatrix and Yggdrasil are now permitted to supply their content to operators in the nation, joining SkillOnNet, Synot Games and Swedish group Programutvecklarna i Norrköping, who received the country’s first three licences.

These added licences come after the SGA stated that it had around 60 applications to review and process following an acceptance period that opened on March 1, 2023.

These permits are set to be valid from July 1, 2023 and will cover an initial five-year period.

Upon receiving its Swedish certification on March 22, Yggdrasil has praised the nation’s igaming space as a “key market for the company where it has a strong presence and heritage”.

Petter Envall, General Counsel and Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at Yggdrasil, commented: “Remaining compliant in all jurisdictions in which we operate is critical to us and has always been a key priority for Yggdrasil.

“Sweden is one of our core markets, and the team was fully focused on submitting our application for the new permit as soon as the application process opened.

“Yggdrasil has a clear regulatory strategy focus and we maintain very close relationships with our locally regulated operators. Yggdrasil encourages other vendors to apply for this licence and I would like to give praise to the Swedish Gambling Authority for a very simple and straightforward process for administering these permits.”

Meanwhile, Relax Gaming also reflected on its latest expansion efforts, which has followed its recent licences to reach Ontario and Greece.

The supplier will take its complete catalogue of slot releases live with operators in Sweden, including Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop, Money Train 3 and Book of Power.

Rachel Winberg, Head of Regulatory Compliance at Relax Gaming, stated: “We are thrilled that the SGA has green-lit our products and content, allowing us to continue providing a wealth of safe and entertaining wagering opportunities to players across Sweden.

“It is no secret that we place great emphasis on broadening our reach and take great pride in showcasing our content across established jurisdictions.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to be able to continue offering our quality games in a mature market like Sweden.”
