During the free spins feature, a random symbol can be selected to become a special symbol for the duration of the bonus game mode. Only the book scatter cannot be chosen as this special symbol.
After a regular payout from a free spin, the special symbol can expand to cover more of the reel set to potentially award a higher payout. These expanding symbols will only occur where a win can be formed using the chosen symbol.
