Pragmatic Play pitted two Greek gods against one another in the studio’s recent mythological slot release, Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War, which allowed players to choose their own path to claim our Slot of the Week award.
Showcasing a 5×5 reel set, the slot offers two game modes to choose from for the base game, while using 15-paylines and offering a maximum win of up to x15,000 the player’s stake.
Irina Cornides, Chief Operating Officer at Pragmatic Play, commented: “Built around changeable volatility levels, Zeus VS Hades – Gods of War is a standout game that introduces player choice to Pragmatic Play’s award-winning Slots portfolio.
“Not only can players switch between the volatile world of Olympus and even more volatile Hades whenever they like, but they will also experience different gameplay in the process – everything from how the game looks and sounds to how it plays. With wins of up 15,000x available, we hope players enjoy this epic battle of the gods.”
The two games on offer include an Olympus game mode with high volatility and a Hades alternative, which uses very high volatility.
The Olympus game mode has a higher chance of landing enough scatters to trigger the free spins but the average free spins payout is lower than the Hades game mode, which has a lower chance of triggering the features.
Low value symbols are represented by the high end of a deck of cards, from 10 through to Ace. These symbols can offer between x0.1 and x1 the player’s stake, depending on the number of winning combinations that land on a single spin.
Meanwhile, goblets, helmets and birds depict the medium value symbols, offering between x0.5 and x10 the player’s wager.
As the game offers two game modes, the high value symbols differ for each option. In the Olympus game mode, high value symbols come in the form of pegasus and Zeus, whereas in the Hades game mode, high value symbols are depicted as Cerberus – the three headed dog – and Hades.
In both game modes, these high value symbols offer between x1 and x20 the player’s bet.
Wild text symbols can appear, substituting for all symbols other than the column scatters. Landing three, four or five wild symbols in a winning formation can provide respective payouts of x2, x10 and x20.
Additionally, enhanced Zeus or Hades wild symbols are available, depending on the game mode chosen by the player.
These wilds will expand to fill entire reels when they drop into play, while offering multipliers between x2 and x100 to be applied to any wins that the enhanced wilds contribute to.
Finally, Greek architectural columns can drop into play on reels one, three and five, triggering 10 free spins if three or more appear on the same spin.
During these free spins, any enhanced wilds that drop into play will remain sticky in their place for the entirety of the bonus game mode.
