In this Beyond the Reels Halloween special, CasinoBeats Senior Journalist James Ross is joined by Nicola Longmuir, CEO of AvatarUX to talk about the studio’s spooky new slot release, Zombie aPOPalypse.
Utilising the studio’s Multipop mechanic and a high volatility, this frightening title uses cascading wins with sticky multiplier on a 5×4 reel set to offer players 6,250-win ways and a maximum win of up to x20,000.
When questioned on how AvatarUX came up with the idea for this slot, Longmuir commented that the firm is “always trying to do cool and innovative” titles, and with Zombie aPOPalypse they were looking to provide mechanics and themes that are “new and unique” to the market.
Longmuir stated: “The Multipop mechanic is something brand new for us and we’re looking to, with our themes, be very diverse. It’s something that the art animation team are really passionate about. It’s light-hearted for a zombie game, it’s got that comic book style and we’re trying not to be too serious with it.”
“It’s perfect for the season, we’re launching just before Halloween and it can be included in lots of promotions for Halloween weekend. It is slightly different from our usual art style but we think diversification is key.”
The game introduces the studio’s Multipop mechanic that enhances cascading wins by placing multipliers in the place of winning symbols. Longmuir went into detail on this mechanic, stating: “The Multipop mechanic works by locking a multiplier to a cell for every win that occurs.”
“While the winning symbols are replaced, the multipliers stay on the reels. For each consecutive win, you can have up to five times multipliers in the base game.”
Longmuir also explained how special features impact the base game. She said: “We have a classic scatter symbol, so you collect three or more to enter free spins, and the game is all about survivors trying to escape the zombie outbreak.
“With five high symbols, three medium and three low symbols the game is quite volatile in nature. You can raise your chances to get into the bonus round by enabling anti-bet that doubles your chances of entering the free spins.”
