Both BresBet and Bet St George have surrendered their UK iGaming licences to the Gambling Commission (GC) just a week after their licences were suspended, closing down their operations in the market.
Licence suspensions were issued to BresBet and Bet St George on 28 August after GC enquiries found suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering (AML) failings.
Under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005, reviews of both operator licences were being carried out, with the commission stating that the suspension would remain in place until it’s satisfied that the businesses are compliant.
However, both operators have now surrendered their licences, meaning neither one of these platforms will restart their operations.
In an update, the commission stated: “On 4 September 2026, BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd surrendered their operating licences.
“Both operators have been reminded of our expectation that they have plans in place, and to take all necessary steps, to make sure consumers are not unnecessarily disadvantaged.”
BresBet had been operational in the UK since February 2025, providing casino, bingo, sports betting and virtual betting products to the market.
Since December 2025, Bet St George had also been offering casino, bingo, sports betting and virtual betting products in the UK.
Last week, the GC said that both operators ‘are expected to treat consumers fairly and keep them fully informed of any developments which impact them’ during the course of the suspension, allowing them access to their accounts and withdrawing funds.
Both operators continue to display a ‘currently unavailable’ message on their respective webpages.
SBC has reached out to BresBet and Bet St George for comment on them surrendering their licence to the Gambling Commission following their suspension.
